Topic-Initiator Extraordinaire
On hindsight, May was actually pretty filled with social activities. Which isn't odd per se, but certainly something I didn't expect. If you know me well, you'd know that I'm not inclined to do these social stuff coz most human beings annoy me. I don't miss people easily, and I can live my life just fine without seeing many of the people I used to know ever again.
I'm not harsh. It's just that I won't talk to you unless I feel our interaction is worth something. But last month really pushed my social limits. Among the activities:
-Met up with some old acquaintances at my friend's condo and we did yoga together. Surprisingly, I came back for seconds.
-Attended a friend's wedding and met former schoolmates. (I actually had to talk to them; geez.)
-Went out with some guy I met last year. (This was purely out of boredom, sad to say. But hey what's a single girl to do?) We had little to talk about (obvy!) but apparently I am Topic-Initiator Extraordinaire so things were sufferable.
-I met up with a friend whom I haven't seen in ages (that's already a little taxing) AND had to converse with some of his buddies who happened to join us for dinner. zZzz.
Honestly? I don't think you realize how exhausted I feel, keeping up with these folks! Don't get me wrong, it's nice to spend time with others, but for me I just feel so drained at the end of the day. The only great thing to come out of these unwarranted socializing is an ability to talk to any random stranger on the street and make him/her open up to me.
I've talked many times about how I wished I had more friends, but I guess by "friends" I mean people whose company I truly enjoy, not random people to meet up and pass the time with. I want people who give me conversations to replay in my head, not brainless natterings I don't give a shit about.
Maybe I should just change the name of this blog to "Adventures of Girl Antisocial" coz this aversion to arbitrary human interaction is a big part of my life. Hah.
Other stuff from these days:
- My mother (aka My Biggest Critic) said I look a little too thin. This, from the woman who never hesitates to tell me I'm fat. She doesn't know I've been working out.
- Found out that the French Ami might be working in Singapore instead of Indonesia! This is just fabulous and I'm completely stoked for him.
- I'm planning a beach holiday; in Europe, because going to Thailand is just too passé.
- I'm heading to Indonesia next week to help with some research. Everything's paid for by the researcher so while I'm prepared to do a lot of manual labour, I also hope I'll get to use this trip to chill and eat all the Indonesian food I can find.
Summer of 2012, please be good to me!

I understand what you're saying. Your interaction with other humans sounds very familiar. Except for the fact that you have 1,000 times better language skills and you're a pretty girl, we're much alike.
This is good timing, I've been looking for a way to compliment myself this week. =)
This isn't meant to be demeaning but you'd make a good escort. You know what I mean. "Adventures of Girl Antisocial"... Bahahhaaa perfect!
And where in Europe are you thinking? Wales? St Tropez?
I just might head to St Tropez... :D
I guess I'm feeling really really lucky and happy right now that you met up with me when I went there!! :)
Any chance of passing by Manila?
Hah! Not at the moment! x)
ohhhhh i can vouch for you on this one too. i don't really keep in touch with people and i don't get attached easily >.> that's why i feel independent most of the time! which is a good thing for us! ^__^
Nashty...if you don't want the randoms, you're left with the "real" ones, the ones who actually matter!
I think the peepz who say they have many close friends probly dont know what they're talking about. Serious!
I'm socially awkward and uncomfortable making small talk with unfamiliar people, which is why I treasure the friends who I can talk to freely. Some people just don't understand that introverts need to exert extra effort into human interaction.
