Les Beaux Gâteaux!!
With so many relatives and friends tying the knot this year (or soon), the topic of weddings have been a pretty popular conversation topic among my friends and I. The GFF might have declared that she wants to stay unmarried forever, but I on the other hand, do wish to formally give in to my romantic leanings someday. What can I say? I live for love and everything related to it.
It's tough to decide between a simple ceremony and a really grand wedding (aww c'mon it's supposed to be once in a blue moon lifetime!). Plus, I also have manic fantasies of my fiancé and I eloping to like, Maldives or Monaco or someplace, but that'll probably never happen since eloping is so last season. (I'll still let you guys know if I'm eloping, don't worry.)
Anyway. We were talking mostly about Malay weddings where it's traditional to exchange gifts and stuff. I think that's one of the best parts of a wedding, to be totally honest. Hence, I can't stand it when I go to a wedding and the gifts displayed are lame shit like flower arrangements, fruit cakes and tiny tote bags. I mean, come on already. Throw in at least one Kate Spade or something with more class.
I think uniqueness is the key. If you're gonna give the girl something that won't burn the bank, at least make it special. Something that no other couple has seen, you know? Not a fucking mango-peach cake that you can buy at the bakery down the block. It's not that tough to think it through, is it?
I couldn't contain my squeals (yes, squeals!) when I saw these celebratory cakes. Tank thought i saw a lizard in the house, the idjit.
Anyhoo.. REGARDE!
Ok. Swoooooooon, baby, swoon. It looks so real.
Wouldn't it be cool if he actually proposed with this baby here? Like, have the ring embedded in the cake? You cut the cake and... awww..
Check out the tissue wrapping in the Neiman Marcus bag! Ingenious. The shoes look more Fornarina spring/summer than Jimmy, though.
And that's obviously not a Prada, but you get my drift. It'll be so cool to cut a cake like this.I saved the cutest for last. Behold, unworthy minions!
Can't you just DIE looking at that!?! I could hardly sit still! Now you know why I was squealing. It's sooooo amazingly quaint and oh-so-beautiful. A brilliant work of art!You won't even guess that it's a cake. Aaahh... The wonders of the human brain coupled with technology. I remember, a friend of the GFF had her bacholorette party cake shaped like a freaking penis (no comments); and my cousin's wedding cake was a bird cage, with [love]birds inside. (Oui, Fardde & Masrois, une cage avec des oiseaux!) It was really pretty, too. What's mine gonna be besides gorgeous? Dang, I should be a bloody wedding planner or something. I'd go to work everyday.
That's it. I can't wait to get hitched after I earn my first million, surrounded by these cakes. You heard it here first. Teehee.

As some of you already know, I'm planning to go on a shopping trip to Malaysia come December, while Tank freezes his hot ass off in New York. Nothing major (don't roll your eyes, Hamizah!), just getting full benefits from the Xmas sale is all. No more bratty designer stuff, either. As I promised myself, 2009 will be a year of mid-end style. Think Diesel! Animal! Desigual! Miss Sixty!
And OMG I'm getting excited.

I totally agree with you... Tsk tsk, I can't wait for you to get married actually.. HAHAHA.
And OMG, what the heck, dont leave me out of all this shopping uh!! :/
Truthfully, not many people wld regard Miss 60 or Diesel as 'mid end products... I wonder what shopping with u is like!
Oh ya, love the cakes. Art!
@ Ame: Then what? I never said you can't come with me... :))
And thanks eh? Please pray for me I meet the most awesome person soon, then. lulz.
@ Flash: It's kinda mid-end especially if you go Kuala Lumpur. My opinion anyway!
The cakes are just... mind-blowing.
You know what's your style, really?
Designer Hippie.
LULZ. The grunge look is not you. Baby you're just too posh.
and i know you're dying to put some other brands up but you just dont wanna reveal them to SGean public kan...
@ Putra: Designer Hippie keper Bang?
Oh sabar. I meant, Designer Hippie kepe KAK? XD
And yes, tepat banget ya firasat you.
I used to have a Dooney and Bourke bag, several years ago. That's about as trendy as I've ever been. I'm more a Walmart kinda girl, LOL! ;o)
I do love the treasure chest cake.
Hope you have a great trip and find some great bargains. Especially considering that your Mom gave away most of your duds. :o)
xoxoxo
Diane
Thanks! I sure hope so :))
And yea I know! The treasure chest is just beyond words, isn't it...
Ya udah pasti tepat dong... hahaha.
I want the LV gateau!!! Ooh ooh wait wait. The Prada one too!!! And the Jimmy Choos...the shoebox would suffice as long as there's "Jimmy Choos" on it. Lulz. oh and the Coach...garhh. J'adore ça!!! J'adore TOUT les gateaux!!! Mais je ne veux pas la cage avec des oiseaux...it might wobble and collapse in our dear country's heat.(but then again...u're not planning to get married here are u? LOL.)Don't forget the camera on each table!! *swoons et mortes*
@ Putra: =))
@ Masrois: Tu adore touts les gateaux? Je sais.. Tu ne dois pas dit a moi... And yes yes! Les cameras!
Oh no, my secret revealed. LOL.
hehe...
Bien, tres bien! J'aime beaucoup de gateaux! Tres jolies! Mais, trop mauvais...je ne peux pas manger. Je suis encore malade. C'est pas de bon!
Je suis triste. -_-
ALORS, quand je suis mariee, je vais avoir cette gateaux! LOL.
Je sais. Tu aime aussi? Bien sur! Je ne suis pas malade maintenant, woohoo. Mais... pas de étudier. =(
Je suis un dodoiseaux. HAHA.
You know what I've never seen? A really good penis cake. The ones on the internet are kind of crappy and some of them barely look like dicks. Whoever made these needs to get cracking on a cock cake. A cocake?
That was one of your most classically Nashe-bimbotic posts ever. I can hear you squealing from all the way here.
Gorgeous, though.
@ Woo: I know what you mean... Thing is, there's no prototypical model of a dick, thus the many interpretations of it, nam sayin?
Someone should try, though. Haha.
@ Izan: You meanie beanie.
Cakes?! If anyone gives me a cake for a gift when I get married, I'll throw it in their face. really! a cake?!
take it easy.. I don't want to marry you yet nash
It's meant to be more of symbolic and you don't have to eat it to appreciate it. And it's just a cake, among other things... There's usually like 20+ gifts in total.
But it's okay, I don't wanna marry you either. Lets chill.
It's so refreshing to see that it's not just "Americans" that are all "materialistic"
It's just "humans"
ROFL
Hahaha!! We all have that streak somewhere... :)
