Михаил
There is this boy. Mikhail. I got to know him through his former roommate Nicolai. Nicolai hates Mikhail's guts so I have no clue how Mik and me actually ended up chatting so much.
But there's something about Mikhail. I've never met anyone so direct, so frank before. There is no room for beating around the bush, no room for wise choosing of words. If he thinks you look sexy that day, he'll say it. If he thinks you've put on weight, he'll say it, too.
The man has absolutely no speech filter! That's bad, of course, but the good thing is that you know you're getting honest opinions.
Nicolai has told me countless times, "Mikhail and I, we don't see eye-to-eye." He has no idea that Mik and I have been talking A LOT. Which made it very uncomfortable for me when Nicolai asked "What's up with you and Mikhail? I heard you calling him your 'boy'."
Eeep. I don't regret a thing with Mik, but I hate feeling guilty with Nico. Although I don't think Nico's opinion actually matters, I feel bad. I feel bad for having listened to him rant about Mikhail 2 years ago...and somehow ending up liking Mik.
Damn, did I just say I like Mik?? Haha. I guess I do, in a weird way. I've never admitted that before! Talking to him is almost an adventure. You never know what heart-stopping comments you'll get. I'm not sure if I'm into Mikhail or I just enjoy decoding his thought process, but still. It's hard not to like a guy who can talk to you about Anna Karenina and Les Miserables.
And it's hard to ignore a guy who slips bad Russian words into an already-dirty conversation. That's just one of the things a Linguistics major appreciates.

woot woot. so this is what all this "russian" about! :P
A guy who talks about Anna Karenina....that would make you happy indeed. lol!
Cyrillic alphabets are cool. But aren't you learning Arabic? What the hell else are you learning!?
(Portuguese for me! You know that already)
@ Robyn: ;)
@ izan: Yes, I'm taking formal Arabic lessons! Cyrillic is just a side thing, and I'm doing it on my own. :]
Russian has always interested me but I really like to master Mandarin.
Cyrillic letters, I'm So impressed =D "I heard you calling him your 'boy'." Ohnoez is Nicolai jealous? I love the name Nicolai, btw. It sounds so romantic! Help me to learn french, nashty!
A russian guy? Woooop. Now thats new! Pictures? That is so cute, Nash.
Ps. If a guy makes you happy then nobody should stop you from keeping him near :)
Andhari said it pretty well. Unless Nico knows something about Mik that you don't, he should just be happy for you.
Someday I hope to master English!
@Ric: To be honest, I think Mikhail's personality needs a lot of getting used to. He's like an acquired taste, but that's just my opinion.
Apparently A LOT of people don't "see eye to eye" with Mik, and Nicolai just outrightly dislikes him. Mik always asks me why I'm still sticking around and seriously, I have no idea. :\
I think it's nice that you feel guilty. does that make sense? I just think it makes you a good person at heart. but wether Nico likes it or not, it's too late! LOL. You better find Mik's dark secret! Jaja!
It's funny that Mik would ask why you're still hanging around. Almost sounds like he expects (or maybe wants) to drive people away, as a defense mechanism. Did he have a good relationship with his mother??? jk, I know nothing about psychology. As long as he's interesting and you enjoy spending time with him, what the heck. But don't stick around if you find yourself getting tired of his...um, well, decoding him. For some reason I'm picturing him as Jesse on Gilmore Girls. =)
@Ortega: I know, right! I truly hope he doesn't have that "dark secret", though :P
@Ric: LOL Jesse?!! He's not that cute, teehee.
I don't think it's like a defense mechanism... I think he's genuinely curious why I still bother talking to him when others stop chatting with him after getting to know him. Maybe it's a masochistic streak I didn't know I had. Haha.
Ahh you gotta love those guys who aren't afraid of what they say; they make for the most interesting convos! And it sounds to me like Nicolai is a bit jealous, or something. And I wish I could learn Russian! Seems too hard for me. Right now I'm trying to learn Hungarian :) Missed your posts, glad you're back!!
i love how your whole entry is about liking a boy and at the end, it's a change of topic to language. hahaha! oooo lala who is this mysterious mikhail?!?!?! can you take a photo of him... secretly? like a ninja? c'mon pls?? hehe!
as for language i've always wanted to learn... it would either be japanese or italian ;)
Very hot!!! =)
That innocent girl needed me to protect her until she matured into a cynical woman. LOL--I'm just teasing. But she does say (pretty regularly) that she's gotten much more suspicious of people and can't nuderstand how or why I seem to have gotten more trusting. It is weird, I guess, to get more trusting over the years.
Hello, you should publish a novel. I really love your writing voice. It's really captured my attention, even in spite of the fact that all you seem to write about are boys.
