In case you haven't heard, I've been on a certain Indonesian island as part of my work attachment, working as an English teacher. No, I'm not teaching kids. My students are 25-40 year old Indonesian workers (engineers, technicians, clerks, supervisors...).
I don't enjoy having restricted Internet access (read: I miss my Farm) nor do I dig being alone in my chalet every night but I guess I can roll with this. It's only for 5 more weeks after all.
Plus, my students are enthusiastic and really funny so I can't say I'm bored. And it's liberating to be able to teach a formal class without being tied to any ministry, I'll tell you that.
I was apprehensive at first, when I heard who my students were gonna be. But as a former flame used to tell me, I'm always finding 1001 reasons not get off my ass. Well, I sucked this teaching gig up for a week and here I am, quite contented!
It feels good to actually find 1001 reasons to love this job. Love MY job. (Reason #1: The princess treatment. Oh man seriously they're all acting like my butlers here.)
I'm gonna enjoy every moment before I have to give it all up in August.
It's great to hear (read?) that you love what you're doing there, Nashe! And wow I salute you, you're so brave for agreeing to do it even though you're alone, I am too much of a sissy to do that. I have to have at least a friend to go with me XD
Just when I thought you've fallen off the surface of the blog world again... Good going on the attachment. Sounds like your FF knew you well. :P it is true ya know, we always find excuses to get out of things but what is impt is that you stick with it n see it through.

Ahh that sounds amazing, despite the restricted Internet access. It's been my dream to teach English somewhere in Asia and that's crazy that your students are older than you - you're awesome haha :) Hope you find more and more reasons to enjoy your job while you're there!!
Knowing hands on what it's like to be a teacher (because my mother is one), I have a profound respect for all teachers. What you all do is simply amazing :)

The princess treatment makes complete sense. I don't know how anyone could ever treat the amazing Nashe any other way.
