Here, I Reveal My Inner Eskimo
For some bizarre reason, people get really surprised when I tell them I love kayaking. They'd get all "Huh, seriously??" on me, especially guys. I'm not sure why I enjoy it so much either but there's something about controlling a chilli-shaped contraption on the sea that brings me much satisfaction. I could paddle all frickin day if I had my way.
Sadly, however, none of my friends like kayaking. In fact, many of them hate it. Which sucks for me coz I really don't want to join a kayaking klub. Nor do I want to try contacting my imaginary Inuit relatives.
I was thinking of bribing my friend to accompany me on a day out at sea but then I remembered him saying he hates kayaking, too. Just great. Actually it wouldn't matter if he said yes. I mean, if I were to ask someone to go with me, I want him/her to be as enthusiastic about it as I am, y'know? Not just coming along coz he's bored or just because I asked. I don't want anyone doing favours for me. It takes the fun out of the activity.
When I was 15 and kayaking with some secondary school mates, they commented that I hardly spoke to any one while paddling. I remember that day really well; I wasn't talking coz I was too absorbed doing my own thing and hoping for some way I could paddle all the way to Batam (or whatever island it was in the horizon). Seriously, can someone make me happy by proclaiming their love for kayaking and the extreme desire to take me out to the sea, please? Thanks.

i would love to kayak, but I takot tenggelam. My swimming skills and balancing skills not pro enough luh..

but yeah i get what you're saying about not having friends who love kayaking as much as you do. because i'm still waiting for a friend to actually want to go bungee jumping with me.

I love it when people do me favors, cuz then it's all about me!!! LOL jk, I know it's no fun if the other people aren't having a good time. {are we done yet?} I have been in canoes, but not kayaks.
For the record, I wasn't surprised. I didn't know which way to take it when you said you wanted to kayak as much as you wanted to ride a horse--were they things you loved or hated??? Haha, but now I know it's love. =)

I'm surprised that u love kayaking too. You just don't sound the type, if it makes sense! (The title of this post made me LOL hard. You summarize it so well.)
One of the girls I work with loves kayaking and she doesn't have anyone to go with, so she just goes on her own. She's like that. Like me. Quite happy to just go and do your own thing if everybody else sucks and won't join you.
Maybe if I tell her to start kayaking from here, you could start kayaking from there and meet each other half way. Would that be cool or what?
Lol. I actually have a qualification in 'small raft safety' ie canoeing and kayaking. I'll take you out AND save your life if you capsize ;)

I love kayaking! I do get tired really easily, though. I need to build up some arm strength so I'm better at it :-)

The bones in my arms are too weak. I have to take breaks in between peeling potatoes! Now imagine paddling!

I have never tried kayaking before but I would love to! I don't know how I'll get the chance though.. Maybe next summer when I go to the beach? Darn my skin allergy that cancelled my two remaining beach trips x_x

and yeah. that's how i feel about rock-climbing. nobdy, NOBODY (at least people i know) ever wants to rock-climb for fun. :'( i'm prolly related to the rock star who chose ntu. -.-

If you come to Ohio you can try kayaking with my friend Andres. He's been badgering me to try it with him for some time now, he's never done it and I have no desire to.
That's so cool! I love kayaking. But I'm no good at it. If I lived on a lake, I would probably love it more.
